The last two months...

The last two months have been busy busy busy!  Hayden has turned into such a big boy in the months since we had Carter and is just as crazy smart and curious as ever. He takes apart Everything!  He is also talking non stop and picks up on everything.  We're working on potty training right now with him and I can't wait for it to be over.  Carter is growing like a weed! I really can't believe how big he has gotten in just two months.  He is pretty much completely opposite of Hayden and it boggles my mind!  He he is pretty calm and smiles all the time.  I wish I could say he was sleeping through the night but it seems that the older he gets the worse he sleeps.  I try to remember that it doesn't last long and to cherish the quiet moments with him in the middle of the night where he just wants to be held.  He really is sweet.

Things are seriously crazy with two kids sometimes.  My mind can't comprehend how people have 5+ kids and stay sane.  I think this is God's way of giving me the patience I pray for daily to prepare me for the trouble these two little boys are going to be getting into together before too long.

Welcome Baby Carter!

Ready to see some pictures!?!? Good cause there's a bunch!  First things first. . . yes we managed to get Carter's nursery done (mostly) just in the nick of time and I love it!  There's more that I want to do but at least all the important stuff is done
I just love it!
Now. . . on to the arrival.  If you don't want ALL the glory details it's probably best you leave now:)  Let's go back to Thursday the 12th.  I'm not sure why but it seems that when toddler boys notice that you are low on patience they kick it up a notch and see if they can make you lose your mind:)  Luckily Grandma and Grandpa came to the rescue and asked if we would like him to come stay a couple days with him so I could regain my sanity and get some rest.  I went to the doctor on friday, was dilated to a 4 and 100% effaced and my bag of water was bulging.  The doctor stripped my membranes and sent me home after pretty much promising me that I would be in labor by the next day.  I was pretty excited because the doctor I wanted was on call and Hayden was with Grandpa so it was perfect timing!  Of course nothing goes as planned.  I had a few contractions but nothing came of them.  Saturday and Sunday came and still nothing so we got ready to pick Hayden up in Nephi.  We were waiting for my dad to get out of church and we decided to run some stuff we borrowed back to a friends to kill some time and I decided to walk since it's just down the block.  I started walking and got just in front of our next door neighbor's house and wouldn't you know it my water breaks!  Luckily I had jeans on so it didn't gush out onto the cement but holy moly it was alot!  And that was just the beginning!  We went inside and started grabbing our things for the hospital (matt was running around like we were going to have the baby at home if we didn't hurry!)  I went in our bathroom and tried to change clothes and water was seriously just sloshing out ha ha!  I went through three pairs of garments before I finally just gave up and put pants on and of course looked like i peed them within like 20 seconds.  Contractions started when we got in the car but luckily they were like 5 minutes apart still so I only had like five on the way to the hospital.  You really do forget how bad they hurt!  When we got onto labor and delivery matt told them my water had broken and when we walked in the nurse looked at me and said "so you THINK your water broke?" Think?  THINK!?  Look at my pants lady!  They took me into an exam room anyway to make sure it had really broken and when the nurse came back with the test strip and saw the water gushing out she decided that it had in fact broken and they took us to our room.  They got me all hooked up and checked me and i was dilated to a five so the doctor said i could have my precious epidural any time and of course I told them I wanted it ASAP! Those contractions were starting to kick my butt!  The anesthesiologist was in in about 15 minutes (definitely beats the 2 hours I had to wait with hayden) and pretty soon I could feel relief was on it's way!  They checked me again and I was a six so a few minutes later matt ran to the car to grab a movie for us to watch while we waited.  While he was gone the doctor came in and decided to check me and wam bam I was already a ten!  They got everything set up while waiting for matt to get back from the car and shortly after he got back we were ready to start pushing.   We're not positive but we're pretty sure that his head popped out on push number 3 and the rest of him on the fourth push.  So from start to finish my labor and delivery was just under 3 hours. Can't complain too much about that!  We are so happy to have our sweet boy here!  He has been such a good baby and I can't help but snuggle him every chance I get:)

Just hangin out waiting to have a baby.

Here he is! Carter Cache Bunker)  All credit for the middle name goes to Amanda styler:) Thanks Dew
7 lbs 5 oz 19.5 inches long!

so happy to be holding him finally

I was so excited to see a whole bunch of dark hair!  He has the same sweet mullet hayden had when he was born:)  I've already had to stop myself from trimming it.  We'll see how long i last!
He turns all stiff like this when i change is diaper too

His mouth and nose were bruised from the way he came out.

My dad arrived with hayden not too long after and he behaved. . . as expected.  It was so sad! (for me anyway)  He wouldn't even look at me!  I think he was super scared of the hospital bed and just the whole situation but it seriously broke my heart!
First family picture.  Can you tell how happy hayden was to be there!

We managed to get him to give carter a kiss because we told him he could go after he did

Getting ready to go home.  It was such a relief to not have him scream bloody murder when we put him in the car seat like hayden did.

I LOVE this picture.  It's so precious!
Hayden warmed up to him a little when we got home but he did not want daddy to hold him.  He kept saying things like "not daddy's carter. mom's carter." and  dad not hold carter. hold Hayden."  He's doing alot better now and asks to hold him at least a couple times a day.  Every time carter opens his eyes he gets all excited and yells "eyes is open!"

I just love his sweet little face in this one.

He has some awesome black arm and back hair!

just taking a nap on the couch.

Since we got home  he started getting a little jaundiced (I'm praying that's not the reason he's sleeping so good).  We go to the doctor today for his 2 week appointment so hopefully his bilirubin isn't too bad.

It's definitely an adjustment having two but he's been so good (fingers crossed he stays that way)  and that has made it a lot easier.  We've also been blessed to have meals delivered to us most of the days we've been home.  Thank you everyone who has brought dinner over! it's so appreciated!  There are so many things that I forgot about having a newborn.  Not necessarily about taking care of the baby itself but just everything that goes with it.  The mood swings, the body changes, and all the breastfeeding stuff!  I don't always remember to put nursing pads in and today I was at the store and ran into a girl i went to hair school with and while I was talking to her i felt my milk come in and all i could do was just pray it didn't start coming through my thin, light grey t shirt!!!  But i didn't dare look down to check in case her or her husband saw!  aw the joys!
All in all everything is going great and we are loving having this little guy here!  Sorry for the longest post EVER!

Weekend update

This weekend we went camping (sort if).  We were supposed to go for the whole weekend but there was a big fire by oak city and the fire restrictions only allowed fires in one area so we ended up only going up Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning.  Hayden loved it of course.  He ran around all day until Matt took him on a four wheeler ride and he crashed creating this pathetically cute picture:)  Of course he woke up as soon as we tried to put him in the tent but he was pretty happy so we didn't mind.  He crashed on the air mattress that night (in the middle of course) and so Matt was kind enough to sleep on the floor of the tent so Hayden and I could sleep comfortably on the mattress.  I was worried I would have to make ten trips to the bathroom but I didn't have to get up once thankfully!  Hayden woke up the next morning and was so happy when he realized we were in a tent!  I want to go again so bad before the baby comes but i'm afraid we might be cutting it a little close.

                                                                           Baby news. . .

36 weeks

It's almost baby time!  I'm thirty six weeks now and the induction date is scheduled for just a couple days before my due date.  (i'm due on a Sunday so we decided to do a couple days early to keep his birthday a little further from the holiday and so Matt can have a longer stretch off work without using up all his vacation)    I'm still praying a go early on my own (doubtful) just because I don't want to be induced.   I had a doctors appointment today and found out I am dilated to a 2 and 80% effaced and his head is nice and low.  Wish this gave ANY indication of anything! Things were so easy with Hayden i'm scared that if we force labor that it will be twice as hard.  Yes i'm a baby, I know, but I really like the idea of a two hour labor and 2 pushes:)  since they usually say labor is cut in half with the second baby. I'm not in a rush to have him or anything.  I actually feel super great.  Better than I did with Hayden even, and I have SOOOOOO much to do so i'm kind of freaking out because I know i'm not going to be able to get it all done.  I mostly just want to avoid his birthday being forgotten/combined with the 24th every year so looks like 3 1/2 weeks and here comes baby ready or not!

Movin on in!

Well we finally closed on our house on Thursday!!! I guess that means we can move in. . . oh wait we already did.  Luckily even though we weren't able to close last Friday, Edge was okay with us moving our stuff in which was a big relief to me since he was leaving on the 13th to go to some training in California for work.  Thank you to everyone who came and helped.  We took two truck loads full down on Friday night and were able to move everything else out of the apartment and into the house in about three hours.  Record time!  Not closing still put a few kinks in our plans but we're managing! We couldn't order our appliances until after we closed so Hayden and I have been lucky enough to get to use a cooler as a fridge for the past few days.  Luckily we can pick it up Saturday and make our lives a whole lot easier!  We also don't have a washer and dryer until the 20th I think.  We've been able to do laundry at our apartment while we were cleaning until today when I locked the door for the last time and left the keys.  As far as apartments go I don't think we could have found much better to live in for 6 years but i can't say that i will miss the tiny living quarters and no yard and I know Hayden won't!  It just about killed me to clean that place though!  I never want to clean another wall or base board again! It's too bad I wasn't closer to my due date because I'm pretty sure that would have sent me into labor.  Thankfully my mom was able to come help me a couple times to get it over with quicker.
Unpacking has been as expected. . . a nightmare!  How do I decide where to put everything???  I finally just started throwing things in cupboards and closets and decided I could organize as I go.  There's so many things we need I can't even believe it!
Hayden seems to be adjusting well.  He was a little confused at first.  We would tell him we were going home to the house and he would say "house not home".  He wasn't mad or sad or anything.  He was just confident that the house was not called home.  After a few days I think he got it and now he says "house is home not apartent".  It's pretty funny listening to him explain everything to us like we don't know what's going on.  He's loving being able to be outside more.  We will open the garage door and he drives his little four wheeler up and down the driveway for as long as we'll let him.  I can't believe how good he has been about not going in the street too!  At our apartment the first thing he would do was bolt to the road but he has been so good here.  Even if his ball rolls in the road he will come get me to hold his hand so we can go and get it together.  I won't pretend that he hasn't had a few hang ups but I don't think they have anything to do with moving because he started doing them before we moved.  He randomly decided that he needs to fall asleep in our bed now and then we have to move him.  I'm really hoping that when we get his new bed he will think it is super awesome and we won't have to make him go to bed in his own bed.  Other than that he seems to be doing just fine!
Hopefully someday I will get things decorated so I can post pictures but I'm not sure I would count on it!  So much to do in the next four weeks and I don't even know where to begin!

Catch up

Lazy me I'm finally catching up on the past month or so.  We went to Delta for Easter and Hayden had a blast hunting for eggs! The weather turned out so nice and he loved being outside.  I'm pretty sure he saw more candy than he has ever seen in his life and I probably ate more candy than I've ever eaten in my life!  He was pretty excited to do the Easter egg hunt but as expected he wanted to open each egg he picked up right away which means we got a grand total of. . . 6 eggs.

Aunt Jaclyn came to support him in his quest

He was so mad he had to wait for the Easter egg hunt to start

opening his Easter basket

Easter egg hunt at grandma's house

I'm not sure why but he decided it was safer to put his candy into Bryce's bag than his own basket. Apparently he doesn't trust us!

trying to open the eggs he picks up with his mouth

A couple weeks ago we were at our house working on stuff and Hayden took a tumble into our concrete steps:(  He had quite the scrape on his cheek.  I was so scared of how upset he was going to be when we washed it out but he actually did pretty good.
After washing it out

The next morning.  I knew it was going to be worse in the morning but i wasn't expecting quite this bad.  This was a few hours after he woke up and some of the swelling had gone down.  He couldn't even open his eye at first but he was still smiling!  You would not believe the stares I got when we went to costco!  People don't even try to hide the fact that they were looking at him and then glaring at me like I was some kind of child abuser!  I felt so judged!  I mean what did they think I did??? punch him in the eye and run a cheese grater across his cheek?!! It's obviously road rash!  Luckily it has actually healed a lot better than we expected and hopefully won't scar too bad so I shouldn't get dirty looks for  too much longer hopefully.
On our way to Delta!  When Hayden knows we are going to delta he talks the whole way down about all the people (and dogs) we are going to see.  He will just sit and babble and say "Gamma's home, Bella's home, Jason. . . cycles, Pocket home, Daisy sleepin"  He likes to talk about where everyone is.  Usually people are either working or home and the dogs (daisy and Bella) are sleeping according to him and whenever he talks about Jason he remembers that he has a motorcycle so he says cycles.  And in case you are wondering who pocket is. . . that would be grandpa.  Anytime we ask him to say grandpa he says pocket and anytime he sees one of his grandpas or asks for them it is ALWAYS pocket.  We have no idea where he got this from but it's pretty hilarious!
Riding Jason's mini chopper with dad.  he loves this thing!  He also loves riding in Jason's "cart" (golf cart)

Last but not least. . . 30 weeks!  Try not to stare at my disgusting counter or at the lowest baby bump in History.  I' carried Hayden the same and I'm wondering if I will ever have a "normal" looking bump.  I went to the doctor at 28 weeks and everything  appears to be super great!  My glucose test came back and I am apparently very not diabetic, Carter's heart sounded great and I guess I am measuring about a week and a half ahead. (wish that meant I would go early and praying it doesn't mean we're in for a big baby!)  Either way this little man will be here in less than ten weeks whether he likes it or not!  (Matt is all for giving him and early eviction notice.  I'd rather not but I'm guessing that as time rolls on and my patience and comfort dwindle that the idea might sound more enticing)

I'm super excited to post some pictures of the progress on our house soon!  My dad, brother, and Matt worked their tales of all day every day from Saturday until Tuesday and tiled our kitchen, dining area, two and a half bathrooms, a laundry room, and an entry way!  Now that's impressive!  I don't know that they will ever want to lay a tile again (or see our house:) but we are so grateful for all that they did.  There's NO WAY we could have done it without them!  I love how our tile turned out!  They have the black stuff all over the house so they should be doing the stucco Thursday or Friday and the guys that do the finish work will be starting either Thursday or Friday too.  This is what I'm most excited for! All the fun stuff is starting to happen and it's actually looking like a house!  We're in the home stretch!  Not looking forward to cleaning our apartment but I'll clean in a hundred times if it means i get to move out!:)

House update!

Finally I got the computer to work long enough to do an actual post on our house!  I'm so excited to have a house I can't even stand it. (literally I can't stand being in our apartment any longer and we leave just abut every chance we get!)  It feels like it is taking forever but the build time start to finish is only 96 days and we are on day 29 so I think I may just being a little dramatic:)  I can't believe how fast everything has gone since they started framing and they were actually set back by a couple days of bad weather!  I think they started framing on the 9thish or somewhere around there and are now finished. (except for a couple small things that they can't finish until more wood is delivered but I'm guessing that will happen tomorrow.  We went down tonight and were surprised to find that they had put in windows and even had our shingles on!  I didn't get any pictures before they started the upstairs because the weather was crappy so we didn't spend much time there other than to look around really quick.  All of this was done in less than a week so of course we had to go down almost every night just to see what they had done that day.

can't believe how different it looks with the roof on!

I was so happy when they put the stairs in so I didn't have to boost myself in. (or worse, have someone else boost me in!)  They also got the stairs going up and down in and we finally got to see what our upstairs would look like!

Finally they finished the roof on the garage and surprised us when the windows were in and the roof was shingled!  It's so much warmer now that the windows are in! If only they would put the sliding door in the back to keep the wind out!

My dad and his wife were nice enough to come up last week and we were able to find the tile we will be using! I can't believe they will be laying the tile in about 3 weeks!

Not a super great picture but these are the exterior colors.  The stucco is a little darker than I think maybe I want now but oh well ha ha! I'm sure it will be fine (I hope:)  The lighter one is our trim and the other ones are the shakes, rain gutters and that jazz, and the garage door and the chunk of wood is what color my precious wood door that I'm so excited for will be!  Hopefully everything pulls together when it's all done.

The plumber will be starting the rough in plumbing tomorrow and Matt will start his HVAC on Wednesday and will be busy with that all week.  I'm not sure what else will be going on the rest of this week but the weather seems like it should be good so hopefully a lot gets done!
