House update!

Finally I got the computer to work long enough to do an actual post on our house!  I'm so excited to have a house I can't even stand it. (literally I can't stand being in our apartment any longer and we leave just abut every chance we get!)  It feels like it is taking forever but the build time start to finish is only 96 days and we are on day 29 so I think I may just being a little dramatic:)  I can't believe how fast everything has gone since they started framing and they were actually set back by a couple days of bad weather!  I think they started framing on the 9thish or somewhere around there and are now finished. (except for a couple small things that they can't finish until more wood is delivered but I'm guessing that will happen tomorrow.  We went down tonight and were surprised to find that they had put in windows and even had our shingles on!  I didn't get any pictures before they started the upstairs because the weather was crappy so we didn't spend much time there other than to look around really quick.  All of this was done in less than a week so of course we had to go down almost every night just to see what they had done that day.

can't believe how different it looks with the roof on!

I was so happy when they put the stairs in so I didn't have to boost myself in. (or worse, have someone else boost me in!)  They also got the stairs going up and down in and we finally got to see what our upstairs would look like!

Finally they finished the roof on the garage and surprised us when the windows were in and the roof was shingled!  It's so much warmer now that the windows are in! If only they would put the sliding door in the back to keep the wind out!

My dad and his wife were nice enough to come up last week and we were able to find the tile we will be using! I can't believe they will be laying the tile in about 3 weeks!

Not a super great picture but these are the exterior colors.  The stucco is a little darker than I think maybe I want now but oh well ha ha! I'm sure it will be fine (I hope:)  The lighter one is our trim and the other ones are the shakes, rain gutters and that jazz, and the garage door and the chunk of wood is what color my precious wood door that I'm so excited for will be!  Hopefully everything pulls together when it's all done.

The plumber will be starting the rough in plumbing tomorrow and Matt will start his HVAC on Wednesday and will be busy with that all week.  I'm not sure what else will be going on the rest of this week but the weather seems like it should be good so hopefully a lot gets done!

Moving Along. . .

Here we are in April already and things are moving right along.  Baby Carter is now 25 weeks and seems to be growing like a weed or at least I am. (Easter candy is probably 90% to blame for that though!)  I forgot how much they start to grow right now and he has conveniently stretched himself into my rib cage making bending a little more awkward but luckily not necessarily painful quite yet.  I did my glucose test last week. I forgot how delightful that stuff is. . . NOT.  It's been a week and I haven't heard anything so i guess i can assume no news is good news right?

25 weeks.
This picture doesn't really do it justice but it was the best i could do with my junky camera phone.  I've been feeling pretty bloated the last couple weeks but i know most of it is because of the large quantities of junk food I eat.  I feel so out of control with my sweets cravings with this baby and it's totally new to me because i wasn't a big fan of sugar when i was pregnant with Hayden.  Hopefully soon I can get a grip on myself!

We had a great Easter weekend! (i will post pictures later) It was so nice to be able to be outside finally and spend time with the family especially my sister that moved away this morning:(  I've been trying to prepare myself.  I cried a lot of the way back from Delta last week and then last night I cried some more and then of course when they left our apartment this morning i bawled again.  I;m going to miss them soooo much.  I've tried to convince her to move in with us after our house is done but she isn't going for it:(  We have grown so close since they have been living in Provo and we haven't gone more than a couple days without seeing them since they moved here.  Hayden would be crushed if he really even knew what was going on.  He's pretty attached. (to the point that when he is mad at us because he got in trouble he starts yelling out their names to come save him)  The worst part is when I think about how close are babies are going to be and not be able to spend time together after they are born.  I really hope it works out for them but I hate not having them close to us.

Happier news. . . our house is moving right along too!  I was pretty upset about the weather last Friday since a blizzard hit Spanish for and prevented them from framing that day:(  but today was perfect so we now have the framing done in our basement and main floor.  YAY!!!  I'm sure they will be doing the upstairs tomorrow.  I can't wait till they have the stairs done going up and downstairs because this whole climbing into our house thing is not so easy at 6 months pregnant especially since the baby is so low and likes to make it difficult for me to get myself into the main floor of our house. (yes i know it sounds crazy that our main floor is high enough to make it difficult to get up into)  The water level is too high where our lot is so they weren't able to dig the basement very deep so our main floor is pretty much the same height as our neighbors upstairs.  Matt should be starting the HVAC this week so it's going to be busy for him for the next little bit.  I feel pretty bad because he hurt his neck/back at work last week and is pretty much crippled but there's nothing he can do because he has to get it done and don't worry he went to the doctor today and of course when he needs it most the doctor wouldn't give him and pain medication.  I don't know how these drug seekers get so many meds when someone who is really needing them can't get any!  We are just praying it starts feeling better soon so it doesn't kill him this week but at least he will be close so me and Hayden can bring him lunch and Hayden can "help" on the house.  We got him a pail and a shovel to take with us because he likes "workin" just like daddy.  He also has some little tools i need to remember to take with us.  He loves going down to see the house and all of our friends.  It's been so fun for us to be able to go down and visit our friends so much. (they're probably sick of us dropping in but i'm excited to live so close!)  I will take some pictures tomorrow and post them before too much changes!

Sniff Sniff. . .

Today was a sad day at the Bunker home (mostly for me).  I put Hayden down for a nap and proceeded to clean things up just like any other normal day.  Little did I know this was not a normal day.  Today my life would change forever.  After about a half hour I was walking past his door and heard a thump and then a few seconds later the door knob turned. . . NOOOOOO!  Then out walked a tiny tot who started giggling and saying happily "I no night night! I get out mommy!" over and over again.  And that is when I knew that my beautiful two hours of blissful nap/clean/craft/reclaim my sanity time was probably a thing of the past.  There's no telling what the next few weeks of Hayden's first big boy bed will bring. Only time will tell.
Yes, I know, this all sounds a little dramatic but it's the truth!  I'm so scared this stubborn little sweetie will never nap again! (besides the occasional day when he gets to the point of exhaustion where he puts himself down for a nap which doesn't happen very often)  I knew this day was coming.  We were actually talking about what we should do with the whole situation yesterday in fact (since we will be needing the crib for someone else when we move) but I just wasn't planning on making up my mind about it 12 hours later.  I guess that answers the when question!  Now I just have to figure out the  "how".  How to get Hayden to take a nap in his bed.  How to get him to go to bed at night.  How to get him to stay in bed at night when there's not crib bars holding him there.  Oh boy this should be exciting!

Weekend getaway

This past weekend we took a trip to St. George to watch the air show with the blue angels.  The weather wasn't as pleasant as I hope for when we take a trip there (of course it's 15 degrees colder and decides to rain when we go down) but we still had fun and for as bad as the forecast looked we really lucked out.  Matt's grandparents have a house there so we were able to stay with them (not that we would have been able to get a hotel if they didn't live there!)  Hayden had fun playing with "gamma" and he LOVED seeing all the airplanes.  I can't believe how many people were there!  We heard that EVERY hotel was sold out over a month ago because of the air show and baseball tournaments.  Crazy!  We were nervous about the drive (Hayden does not enjoy riding in the car and we haven't gone farther than delta since we got rid of the binks) but he did so great!  He fell asleep on the couch for 5 minutes before we left but i was still hopeful that he would sleep at least a little on the way down. . . Nope.  He stayed awake the whole time but surprisingly didn't throw any fits!  He sat and pointed out every vehicle we passed telling us what it was and played with his cars and watched a movie.  He was super good the hour we were in the car before and after the air show (the line was so LONG) and he slept the whole way home from St. George to Orem! He never does that!

Hayden as we pulled into the air show and he started to see the planes. Love this little man!

Love this face.  He was so happy to watch the planes out the window.

He squealed about the planes the whole way!

I can't believe how huge these planes are.

playing with his cars and new plane souveneer we got him

crazy helicopter/plane. it can switch back and forth

blue angels

matt and my grandpa being twins.  they chit chatted the whole time. it was so cute! sometimes i think matt is an old man trapped in a 28 year old body

He was sooo good during the almost five hours at the air show.  He sat with us in our little cramped spot and played the whole time and was so tuckered by the end that he fell asleep before we could even get him to give up this bottle.  Can't wait for another little family weekend outing!  I can't seem to handle being stuck in our apartment any more and this was just what we needed!

Of course I have to do a house update to announce that. . . our house has finally started!  They dug our basement today and things will move very quickly from this point on.  Can't wait till June when we get to move in!

Baby boys

We got to see our cute little man again today! What a relief that everything is looking just like it should:)  He weighs in at about 15oz right now and is as cute as a button (from what you can tell in a grainy black and white picture:)  The doctor scared us for the first few minutes.  We told him we already knew it was a boy and he said "are you sure about that". I thought he was joking but then we were watching the screen and couldn't see the goods for a couple minutes! He was hiding them real good but we finally confirmed his boy-ness again.  I love him already!  He was going to town sucking on his thumb for a few minutes and then we realized it wasn't his thumb.  He had his foot in his mouth ha ha! so cute!
My sister finally found out what she is having today! She is 3 1/2 weeks behind me and also having a BOY!  So now I have less than three weeks to get a baby shower planned before she moves away:(  not too happy about the whole moving away thing.

Updates. . .

First things first. . . We are officially half way through this pregnancy! It's crazy to think I'm already on the down hill side but we're so excited!  I feel pretty great (besides not sleeping super great).  Sickness is all but vanished and my appetite has returned with a vengeance!  I started feeling some tiny kicks and punches around 16 weeks and this past week he has really kicked it up a notch:) I forgot how much I love and appreciate every little movement I get to feel.  Matt was also able to feel him kick for the first time last week which is really exciting for him.  We have our anatomy ultrasound in a week which has me excited to see our baby again and just hoping that everything is going just right in there!
20 Weeks
I've decide for sure that the theme for little Carter's room will be nautical and I'm so excited!  I've been trying to find a ship wheel to hang on the wall but all the ones I've seen on the Internet have been $60+ so i was so happy when i found this one at Hobby Lobby and was able to use a coupon and get it for $22! It's going to go perfect in his room!  I've also been searching for fabric to make his crib bedding (i couldn't find anything pre-made that fit the theme and colors the way i wanted) and was not finding ANYTHING that I liked until a friend told me about fabric.com.  I found exactly what i was looking for for the bumpers on the first page i looked! It's fate! I even found some way cute material to do the quilt with.

I'm so happy I found this!

These are the four pattern materials his quilt will be made of (for some reason the color on the striped one looks weird.  It's a navy blue for reals).  For the quilt I want to use these and some solids and maybe minky on the back so it's soft.  For the bumpers I am just going to do the navy and white striped material with either navy or red trim but I'm haven't decided yet. There's a ton of cute stuff I have pinned on pinterst so I'm excited to see how his room turns out!

Now for our slightly bigger baby. . . Hayden has come down with a cold so he's not exactly happy right now.  He's been whining a lot and I'm hoping that it has to do with him not feeling well and not just his age because it is getting old.  He's also been waking up a little earlier than usual which is making me pretty sad:( but other than that  he's pretty much hilarious.  He jabbers all day and repeats just about everything!  He pretty much thinks he's the boss man of the house. (he's pretty much right).  His favorite thing right now is trains.  We passed one on our way to Delta last week and he freaked out!  I'm pretty sure he thought it was the best day of his life.  When he saw it coming he starting squealing train!!! here it comes!!!! over and over again.  I was so exciting he was shaking.  I thought he was going to pass out:)  I will now go out of my way to hopefully see this reaction again.
I am proud to say we have now officially been clean at our house for two and a half weeks! (clean of the binky that is.  and yes i would say that thing is probably as bad as quitting drugs)  We are still working out some rough spots (nights in delta have not been all that pleasant) but all in all he really did pretty good.  He hardly ever asks for it and when I tell him it went bye bye and he lights up and says "Prize" all excited (he got some prizes when we got rid of it:)  I will admit that I miss it sometimes and i will never say that i wish i would have never given him one because that thing literally saved my sanity sometimes but it is nice to not have to cart it around or worry about having an extra when we go places.
little man on the way to delta.  It was "bight" from the sun so we've gave him Matt's sunglasses.  I need to get him his own.  I'm kicking myself for not getting the cute baby aviator sunglasses i saw last year!
House update. . .  I really really wish i could say that our house had been started already:(  The engineer should be done with the plans today or tomorrow and then they should have a building permit by the end of the week and hopefully in the next 2 to 3 weeks they will be digging!  This hasn't slowed Matt and I down though ha ha!  We have already picked out our couch and put money on it and then we were in the mall the other day and the guy at sears randomly asked us if we needed a lawn mower because they still had a few good ones on clearance from last year.  Did we buy one?  before we have a house let alone a yard??  yes, yes we did.  We're crazy i guess.
Right now we are trying to pick tile which my dear daddy has graciously offered to lay for us. (I'm very happy to be getting tile in our entry, kitchen and all the bathrooms)  It's sooo hard!  You have to factor in all the elements of the house that will be near the tile and make sure they all go together and then somehow find it at the right price! blaish for the walls and white for the trim).  I love the carpet! It should be very good at hiding dirt!
Hopefully we get this show on the road soon because I'm getting some major cabin fever in our tiny apartment with last weeks frigid weather!  Luckily we should be in St. George in a couple weeks for the air show and some much needed sunshine (hopefully).  Luckily today has been so nice to hold me over till then!

Mommy Woes

So. . . I always promised myself that my kids would not be allowed to have their binky passed age 2 and it seems that Hayden's 2nd birthday has come and gone and the binks has still been with us:(  I tried to only let him have it at nap and bed time but he would always end up crying for it during the day and being in the first trimester and sooo tired and sick i just caved and let him have it to give myself a break.  I decided maybe it was best to just wait till he was a few months older so he would understand the binky fairy and being a big boy but lately he just seems to be getting more and more attached to it so I decided that it was probably best to just cut the cord now. . . for real this time.  I actually threw the only binky we had left away so I couldn't fall back on it. Well. . .just as always Hayden is proving to be a very strong willed child.  The first day was wretched (He whined for it all day and then finally went to bed at 12:30 in the morning and only slept until 7:00)  Day 2 wasn't so bad so I thought the worst was over. We even got him to bed at 10:00  (progress right!)  WRONG. He woke up at 2 in the morning and cried for about an hour without wavering.  When he finally fell asleep on the couch I tried to take him to bed and any time I would get him near his crib he would hold his arm up and say "couch" and cry if i tried to put him down.  I'm fine with letting him cry for a little bit to learn to sleep without it but our neighbor is soooo rude and not understanding!  She makes sure to let us know if he peeps too loud even once so I really don't know what to do.  He won't go to sleep in his crib without crying but I don't want to let him make a habit out of sleeping on the couch obviously.  What am I supposed to do!!!
