Mommy Woes

So. . . I always promised myself that my kids would not be allowed to have their binky passed age 2 and it seems that Hayden's 2nd birthday has come and gone and the binks has still been with us:(  I tried to only let him have it at nap and bed time but he would always end up crying for it during the day and being in the first trimester and sooo tired and sick i just caved and let him have it to give myself a break.  I decided maybe it was best to just wait till he was a few months older so he would understand the binky fairy and being a big boy but lately he just seems to be getting more and more attached to it so I decided that it was probably best to just cut the cord now. . . for real this time.  I actually threw the only binky we had left away so I couldn't fall back on it. Well. . .just as always Hayden is proving to be a very strong willed child.  The first day was wretched (He whined for it all day and then finally went to bed at 12:30 in the morning and only slept until 7:00)  Day 2 wasn't so bad so I thought the worst was over. We even got him to bed at 10:00  (progress right!)  WRONG. He woke up at 2 in the morning and cried for about an hour without wavering.  When he finally fell asleep on the couch I tried to take him to bed and any time I would get him near his crib he would hold his arm up and say "couch" and cry if i tried to put him down.  I'm fine with letting him cry for a little bit to learn to sleep without it but our neighbor is soooo rude and not understanding!  She makes sure to let us know if he peeps too loud even once so I really don't know what to do.  He won't go to sleep in his crib without crying but I don't want to let him make a habit out of sleeping on the couch obviously.  What am I supposed to do!!!

So excited!

I can't believe I finally get to say we're going to have a house!!!  I feel like we've been searching FOREVER. (really it's only been like a month but we're pressed for time with our new little man coming)  We looked at bunches of houses and have actually put offers on a few only to find that the ones we wanted had multiple offers already.  Finally one night we decided that if we didn't like any of the houses we looked at that night we would make the decision to have one built.  We went out confident that we weren't going to like anything we looked at. . .  wrongo!  We looked at a home in our friends neighborhood and there were quite a few things that we really liked about the house. It had a little over 3,000 sq feet, 3 bedrooms upstairs with the option of a 4th and also a great loft area (this is why I really loved the house. I would love a loft area!) It also had a really good sized backyard that was already finished and fenced in. (perfect for an energetic 2 year old!)  There were a few things that I really didn't like about it.  I wasn't in love with the kitchen and the layout of the first couple rooms in the entrance were really weird and there was no basement which is something I decided that I really really would like. I also thought the outside was pretty unattractive.  We left the house torn.  Our decision was supposed to be made for us but now we didn't know what to do because we were finally the first ones to have the option of putting an offer on a house that we might actually want to live in.  After much deliberation and (some tears on my part) we decided to put an offer in on the house. Well. . . long story short the people decided that they didn't want to sell their house (dear owners please explain why there is still a for sale sign in your yard and your house is still listed online???) So I guess that was our answer on what to do!  We are now getting everything signed and ready to go so they can start our house!!!  Our lot is in Spanish Fork (I would love to stay in Oren but unfortunately it is ALOT more expensive up here)  We actually are in the same neighborhood as 3 of our really good friends and I'm so excited for our kiddies to be best friends and have tons of play dates and summer bbq's!  We will be meeting with a design team on Wednesday to pick out all the fun stuff (cabinets, counter tops, paint and flooring colors, appliances, colors of the outside and all that jazz) I'm so excited!  I've been pinning my eyeballs out for how to decorate the boys rooms (I'm thinking of doing a nautical theme for the baby's room with bright white, dark blue and some red and Hayden's room I have no idea what I want to do right now!) but I'm so excited for both my sweet little boys to have their own little rooms and a real place to call home and room to stretch their legs.  I'm also super excited for the extra bedroom that I have called for my very own craft room until our basement is finished! No more kitchen craft room!  Just a few of the many things that I am excited to have!  Our official latest date we will be able to move in is June 7th (seems like forever but I know I'm just being impatient) I'm really crossing my fingers we will be able to move in the end of May.  We decided that I will have to take my lawn chair and hang out down there to make sure no one is taking any breaks (who needs lunch!!!)

Explanations. . .

I seem to have a little bit of explaining to do. . . I've pretty much just been really lazy in a LOT of areas for the past few months.  My blog has been a poor excuse for telling about our "exciting" lives lately, and I'm sure most have come over to our apartment to see it in a massive blunder or my child just running around like he owns the place and has no mother, and I'm sure I've forgotten (probably multiple times) something I was supposed to be doing for someone but I promise I have a legit excuse! (It feels legit anyway:) I'm going to blame my massive amount of laziness on this little gem right here!  We call him Carter (for now anyway:)  He is due to be here on July 22nd (or a week earlier:) we'll see how I feel when I'm large and in charge in the middle of summer!)
It took me about 5 seconds after he put the ultrasound thing on my belly to see this little man's goods!  (what is it with my boys that they are just hangin out spread eagle!  I'd say we have no question what this baby is!
We found out we were expecting a couple weeks before our cruise.  We'll say it was a little bit of a surprise.  We were not very smart and assumed i would ovulate on schedule so we weren't exactly extra cautious until we were closer to that time.  Well we never factored in that maybe i would just randomly ovulate early.  Ha ha oh well!  What's a couple months???  We were planning to try around December or January anyway so we just got a little early surprise!  This did complicate things on the cruise a little bit unfortunately.  Every time I would get in any kind of moving vehicle I was pretty much asleep instantly but what really kicked my butt was when the nausea set in after about day 1 on the cruise.  If you've ever been on a cruise you're aware that you are confronted with food at just about every corner!  Sometimes i really thought i was going to die!  I'm probably like 1 of 10 people who have lost weight on a cruise ha ha!  I also usually took at least a two hour nap every day that we were at sea.  Poor Matt was probably ready to kill me!  Luckily he was fed very well for that week. (he still says he misses the windjammer buffet)  Things have been looking up for the past few weeks though and I'm only really sick at night and I'm hoping that will disappear soon also!  But luckily we all survived the first trimester (barely).  I never imagined how hard it was going to be being pregnant with an active toddler but we're all alive and kicking still so hopefully it will be smooth sailing for the next few months!

Here i am at 16 weeks!  Just kidding (can you imagine what i would look like at full term!)   but isn't this dress cute!  We had to take the opportunity to try on some maternity clothes with the motherhood strap on belly since they were having an awesome sale!

Anywho. . . we are very excited for this little man to be here and I'm especially excited to have a real room to prepare for him when we get our house!

Happy Birthday to the cutest little boy ever! I can't believe we have a 2 year old!  Two is a crazy age I've decided.  They are so fun and entertaining but also very challenging at times.  Even though it is a hard age I love seeing Hayden's personality and how his little brain manages to figure everything out. He is so smart!!! (which I'm sure every mother thinks about their kids)  He says the funniest things now and repeats pretty much EVERYTHING.  He is also very aware of his surroundings and what is going on around him.  When he sees someone crying he will either say "what happen?", "is cryin?" or "you k" (you ok).  He still loves daddy most (grrrr:)  Every morning when he wakes up we have to go check the bed to see if daddy is home and when he isn't Hayden looks at me and says "daddy workin?".  Ha ha what a cutie pie.  He loves babies (hopefully this will stick) and animals (especially dogs).  He loves to go to all of our friends house because they have "puppies".  He still LOVES his trucks.  Today I think we had about ten that just had to come to church with him.  He still keeps me very busy all day but he has added some extras to make sure I don't get too much down time when we're home.  He can now easily unlock the deadbolt (luckily he hasn't taken off while I'm taking a shower or anything. . . yet), he can reach the light switches (most annoying part about this is that he is just tall enough to go around and turn on all of the lights but not tall enough to turn them off), he has realized that he can get to pretty much anything he wants if he moves a chair to it, and he has come to the conclusion that instead of picking a couple toys it is best to drag his whole box of toys out and dump the container on the floor!  He has picked up some useful (and cute) things that I'm not to sad about.  If he spills something he will usually go and get a dish towel and try and wipe it up and he is pretty good at throwing things away. Sometimes too good:)  Pretty much. . . we love him to death!  He had a great birthday and got lots of fun stuff including clothes (which he for sure needed), movies, and toys and the bonus. . . he wasn't teething and didn't burn himself on the birthday candles this year!:)

He got bubbles for his birthday and he totally loved it!

My mom got him this and he loves it! He's not quite heavy enough to work it but he scoots
around on it and makes us push him

His play house we got him that i thought was going to be little.  It's like the size of his room! Hopefully we
find a house soon so he can play with it more.

He loves balloons!  The big one has cars characters on it and he was soooo excited!

our cute birthday boy! thanks to all our friend who came and celebrated with us!

cruise part 1

Soooo. . . apparently I don't know how to use blogger anymore because my pictures are all backwards here. If you wish to start at the first of our vacation please proceed to the bottom of the page and then scroll up:)  I decided i best do our vacation in pieces so that i don't lose motivation (or just give up when all 3 million pictures somehow get erased from my unsaved post:(

getting a look at our ship before embarking.  It was huge!

Our first night in the main dining room

at the show our first night

Pulling in to our first stop Labadee Haiti.  It's so pretty here and we got to spend the entire day on the beautiful beach.  I felt so terrible at first because we have so much more than these people but i couldn't believe how crooked some of them were! There were a few that tried to take us for all we were worth!  There was also a little path that had lots little shops with "handmade" stuff (but somehow every place had the exact same stuff)  but if you don't buy their stuff they pretty much hate your guts!

the beautiful beach

so glad my grandpa was able to come with us!

our amazingly huge ship!
What can i say??? Cruises are pretty much amazing. There's food around every corner, tons to do, and you get to go to a bunch of different places! We took about a million pictures so i tried to sift through the best ones.  We left Delta on Thanksgiving before Hayden woke up. I'm not sure i could have left if he was awake:( We missed him so much while we were gone but luckily we knew he was in the good hands of my sister and her husband!  Flights were a lot cheaper from Vegas so we decide it was worth the drive.  we stayed there Thursday night.  For thanksgiving dinner we ate at a little burger place.  No complaints here! My Philly was delicious! and HUGE!

Our first in Florida we stayed at the Hammock  Beach Resort. It was so nice and right off the beach! This is the view from our room.

One of the beach housed near our resort. They were sooo nice!

heading to the beach!

View of our resort from the beach

We went to Ron Jon's surf shop and got skim boards to use on the beach

I was pretty terrible and probably almost died but it was way fun and crazy to we swimming outside at the end of November!

first of many catch up posts

I seem to be a little behind on my blogging lately.  I guess we will start with "Thanksgiving".  We had to do Thanksgiving a couple weeks early this year since we wouldn't be home because of our cruise.  We had lots of good food and spent time at my dad's house. I didn't get many pictures. I've been pretty bad at having my camera out lately.

Hayden and jack eating Popsicles after dinner

apparently i wasn't paying very much attention

random Halloween picture because i don't think i ever posted one and he looked so cute in his costume!

growing

Hayden is 22 months and I really can't believe it!  Less than two months away from being 2.  How do I almost have a two year old!  I feel like this age is the best and worst at the same time.  He is throwing more fits, is unreasonable if you want him to hold still for even a second (which means that shopping, family photos, getting dressed, and anything else that requires holding still are a nightmare.  His favorite words right now are "No!" and "Mine!" and he uses them way more than I appreciate.  He wants what he wants when he wants it and he makes sure to let you know in the most inconvenient way possible!  He has also decided that he will make the choice when he goes to bed.  when we were in delta we couldn't get him to go to bed until midnight!  We put him in his crib and he freaks out!  On happier note he is so much fun when he is happy!  He sings and dances and jabbers all the time.  I love that he is saying things and understanding ALOT.  It comes in handy sometimes when his lazy parents need something that is just out of reach:)  I have been worried about his talking (or what i thought was a lack of) but i was reading up and found out that he is only supposed to know about 20 words. I'm not sure why i was so worried because he is saying over fifty and even says a few phrases.  I tried to make a list and these are the ones I could think of. . . daddy, car, truck, keys, want, eyes, ears, nose, hair, drink, milk, juice, tree, cute, soft, baby, yucky, ow, mine, help, no, yes, yeah, hello, hey, uh oh, bella, lady, mack, treat, bite, binky, outside, ride, some, more, sorry, please, thank you, yay, cheese, ball, mere (come here), bye, see ya, grandpa (sounds more like bompa), hot, bite, potty, that, go, tickle, stroller, shoes, fly, and again.  He also says "ready, set, go!", "where is it?", "where'd it go", "there it is!", "one, two, three!", "what's that?", "what'd he say", and "your in trouble!"  He is hilarious!  my favorite thing that he does right now is he will hide his hand (or an object) behind his back and say "where'd it go, where'd it go!. . . there is is!" ( and yes i meant to put is twice because that's exactly what it sounds like:) he says it with so much excitement! i love it!   He has also turned into a little dare devil.  he loves to say ready, set, go! and jump off the stairs or the couch and he gets a thrill out of falling off things.  I'm starting to think he is going to be an adrenaline junky.  He loves to mimic everything right now.  when we brush our teeth he will get his tooth brush and tooth paste and bring it to me and say "help" and then he will stand by Matt and when Matt spits into the sink Hayden makes a sound like he is spitting too and he also insists on flossing after he brushes ha ha!  He is also a champ at going pee in his potty! I think I will start being more aggressive with potty training next month since he is doing so well.   He is still growing like a weed which is surprising since he NEVER eats!  He is now 34.5" tall and weighs about 25 pounds. I would upload pictures but blogger is not cooperating so i can't but we sure love our little man! . . . even on his bad days!
